PUTRAJAYA, July 9 -- It is important to cultivate and raise consciousness of the Rukun Negara among young generation so that it would not just being read out during school assemblies.

Dina Aisha Nur Muhammad Insan, 16, said the appreciation of the five principles of the Rukun Negara was important to maintain unity among the people of various races in the country,

The student of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Putrajaya Presint 8(1) was among six students selected to read out the Rukun Negara pledge together with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the launch of the 50th anniversary celebration of Rukun Negara at Bangunan Perdana Putra here today.

"To our friends out there, Rukun Negara appreciation matter should never be considered petty, instead it should be a priority because we are the next generation to take over the country's administration," she said.

Chen Jun Voon, 16, said he was excited to have been given the opportunity to read out the Rukun Negara pledge with the Prime Minister.

"The younger generation needs to get to know the country through the Rukun Negara," said the SMK Tinggi Kajang student.

For Jaslynn Antra Joseph, 16, every principle has a significant value to us in the context of a multi-ethnic society in this country.

The Rukun Negara golden jubilee celebration, jointly organised by the Communications and Multimedia Ministry, and National Unity Ministry, was telecast live on Bernama TV (Astro 502, myFreview 121 and unifi TV 631), RTM, Astro Awani and social media platforms.
