Rukun Negara golden jubilee celebration fires patriotic spirit - Suhaimi Sulaiman

PUTRAJAYA, July 9 -- The launch of the 50th anniversary celebration of Rukun Negara today is very significant in firing the spirit of patriotism among all strata of society when the nation is facing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) chairman, Suhaimi Sulaiman said therefore the philosophy should be appreciated and disseminated as widely as possible using the latest technology such as social media.

“The challenge of the media now is how to deliver the understanding of Rukun Negara to the young  generation.

“We want the young generation to appreciate Rukun Negara, how they see it from their frame of reference,” he said when interviewed after attending the launch of the 50th anniversary celebration of Rukun Negara by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here today.

He said on the overall, the Prime Minister and the Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah were satisfied with the launching of golden jubilee of Rukun Negara.

“The Prime Minister and the KKMM Minister have congratulated the team for successfully organising the Rukun Negara celebration. It was a nice event, very meaningful and smoothly done,” he said.

Bernama, Information Department and Kumpulan Media Karangkraf had jointly created the official celebration logo.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) and National Unity Ministry are jointly organising various programmes from July 9 to Malaysia Day on Sept 16.

Among the programmes planned are Insta Challenge, Rukun Negara Hour, Webinar, e-Treasure Hunt, Pengisahan Negara, Ted Talk on Nationhood, Discussion Series, Documentary and Bicycleton.

The programmes would be jointly put up by Bernama, Information Department and RTM with the cooperation of  the National Unity Ministry.
