Malaysian unity, patriotism spirit intact amidst COVID-19 challenges

KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 -- Unity and the spirit of patriotism among the people in Malaysia has never faded and still remain intact despite facing the challenges of COVID-19 which have forced everyone to live in the new normal.

In fact, the spirit of togetherness revealed through their participation in the launching of the 2020 National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign held simultaneously across the country today, also reflected the racial harmony and prosperity in Malaysia.

The national-level launch was officiated by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at Perdana Putra, Putrajaya.

In Kedah, Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor graced the launch of the state-level National Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign in moderate scale and in the new normal during the monthly assembly of the state’s civil servants today, which was also attended by the state Cabinet line-up.

In his speech, Muhammad Sanusi said the theme ‘Malaysia Prihatin’ picked for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations this year also reflected a common commitment of the government and the people in taking care of each other.

He also called on the people to fly the Jalur Gemilang at home and on their vehicles as a sign of pride for this beloved country.

In Sarawak, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and the entire state Cabinet, together with heads of government departments and agencies gathered to watch Muhyiddin’s live streaming speech from Putrajaya on mega screen in Kuching.

Abang Johari then launched the state-level campaign and flagged off the participants of the Jalur Gemilang Convoy before proceeding to visit an exhibition on nationhood at the State Assembly new building.

In Perak, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu in his speech called on the people to make the National Month a Malaysian tradition in expressing their gratitude for the independence, development, peace and harmony enjoyed today.

After launching the state-level campaign held at the Bangunan Perak Darul Ridzuan in Ipoh, Ahmad Faizal also flagged off 25-vehicle convoy which will travel to all districts in the state in the Jalur Gemilang Merdeka Convoy 2020.
