Merdeka: SWM Environment installs 1,330 flags on vehicles

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 13  -- In between managing solid waste and public cleansing exercises, concession company SWM Enviroment Sdn Bhd (SWM Enviroment) still finds time to enliven the celebration of independence by displaying the Jalur Gemilang on its every vehicle in the state.

Its Johor Regional manager, Mohd Zan Arris said 1,330 compactor trucks involving 840 lorries belonging to SWM Enviroment and 490 lorries belonging to its sub-contractors were decorated with the Jalur Gemilang.

“We want to enliven this national month celebration among the general public in 15 local government authorities (PBT) areas in the state.

"Our compactors and open tipper trucks are synonymous and familiar to the general public in Johor. Therefore, the vehicles and even SWM Enviroment personnel in the field will act as role models in flying the Jalur Gemilang and nurturing the spirit of patriotism among the communities," he told reporters after the SWM Enviroment Johor level Wave the Jalur Gemilang campaign, here, today.

Also present was Johor SWCorp director, Cairul Hisham Jalaluddin.

Mohd Zan said, 1,400 Jalur Gemilang flags were used in the campaign.

He said, SWM Enviroment also invited the communities to appreciate the independence celebration themed "Malaysia Prihatin" (Malaysia Cares) this year by displaying and inculcating caring values and responsibility for solid waste management and environmental cleanliness to ensure environmental sustainability.

Therefore, he also called on the community to continue to conduct solid waste management in a responsible manner.

"The community is also expected to implement the Solid Waste Separation method at the source, as well as cultivate recycling practices that offer additional income as offered through the SWM Enviroment recycling programme with reward known as KITARecycle," he said.
