KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 10 -- In promoting the spirit of belonging and togetherness among the people of various races through the Rukun Negara 50th Anniversary celebration this year, the Communications and Multimedia Ministry (KKMM) had taken various measures to widely publicise the Rukun Negara principles.
Deputy minister Zahidi Zainul Abidin said the spirit of Rukun Negara was revived and promoted via five television channels, 34 radio stations and social media accounts.
Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) presented a total of 6,510 programmes and contents for the Rukun Negara from Jan 1 to Aug 31 this year.
"The programmes included talk shows, documentaries, sketches, infographics, capsules, public service announcements (PSA) as well as live and news coverage," he said when winding up the debate on the motion of thanks on the royal address at the Dewan Negara here, today.
Zahidi said in efforts to attract young people and instil in them the Rukun Negara spirit, the song Lima Prinsip Rukun Negara composed by Datuk Wah Idris was been given a new life and a video clip was produced featuring popular local srtistes.
Meanwhile, Zahidi said KKMM welcomed Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew's proposal that each state be given the chance to host Malaysia Day.
The ministry will discuss the proposal at length before bringing it up to the Cabinet Meeting, he added.
